It is the sort of thing I like to commemorate in poetry, and here is a poem that I wrote about it. The poem, in the realm of poetry, rates as probably less than trivial, and yet it is exactly the sort of thing that stirs my pen, even as, a few posts previous, the 75th anniversary of the invasion of Poland did.
The recent discovery of a cup that appears to have been used by Pericles is greatly exciting. Perhaps of no major importance, as if it were something on the order of a demonstrable Nestor's Cup, but, to those of us who care about the past, somehow a confirmation and a consolation both.
