The churches evangelical
(Such as they call themselves)
Admit spirals are helical
And handles may be helves,
But never, never will admit
A man cannot serve two
Divergent masters—there’s no slit
That they will not squeeze through,
To render Mammon what is God’s
And to God what is Mammon’s—
Rather exposed as pious frauds
The more that one examines:
They toe the party line, and bow
To what delivereth profit,
No sin that they will not allow
If their men choose to scoff it.
Adultery is A-OK,
And cozening with Nazis,
Lies and slanders by the way
And whoring hotsy-totsies;
There is no grifter they won’t stand,
No sexual assaulter,
Provided that abortion’s banned
When lips service their Psalter.
Threats, bullying, intimidation!
All these, and so much else!
Partisan any condemnation
From “evangelicals.”
There is another name for them
As rather apter fits,
Not evangelicals—amen?—
But rather hypocrites.
