The great defaulting nation
America becomes,
With morals in starvation
Revoking even crumbs.
“America has promised”—
But whatever it said
Let words be Doubting Thomas’d,
Because her word is dead.
The great lies of its Leader
Unchallenged cast upon
Each lowly bottom-feeder,
Citizens every one,
A doubt in her intentions
And good-faith narrative,
Disposed old-time conventions
As virtue takes a dive.
Her word which once was given
Hypocrisy has snatched,
All faithful concord riven
The while the world has watched.
