To “be prepared” your counsel is,
And there is good advice in this,
But even as the hour is rising
With fearful storms on the horizon,
It’s hard to know where to take shelter
So to avoid the wind and welter.
My day is nearly done; besides
I never was the one who hides,
But even so, my friend, beware:
Of danger you may face your share,
With few, as time becomes unhinged,
By conflagration left unsinged.
As passengers on the Titanic
Upon that fateful night of panic,
We none of us can wholly tell
What trials and traps our stars may spell,
Yet, even as the words you shared,
It much behooves—to “be prepared.”
