He was appointed man of the high court,
Esteemed (so said) for his sagacity,
However, on display, his empathy
Was proven stunted, mercurially short.
Asked his opinion, he was prone to sort
Through dry equivocations patiently,
Only, upon concluding, to agree
With monied classes and their aims support.
He never once considered himself as
An evil man, or reprobate, however,
Because the evil he allowed to pass
Was done by other hands, and he was clever
To leave his own untainted, though (alas!)
He functioned merely as the Rich Man’s lever.
