For seven years, or maybe eight,
They did no more than obfuscate,
And try to tear the building down,
Obstruction tactics so well known.
They cannot build, but can destroy,
And public ignorance liked their ploy,
Because it seems that they besmirched
Like folk that never had been churched—
Besmirched the President, the Dems,
In ways morality condemns,
They built a paper construct up
Called liberal, then hup hup hup
In lockstep marched to tear, obstruct
To serve interests well-known corrupt,
But listen up, don’t shake your fist:
The tearing down is terrorist.
They work in secret, if they must
At nighttime to betray the trust
That people have for public good—
They acted like nobody should.
Yes, these Republicans in charge
Of government, strut loud, talk large,
But at day’s end, some new bill killed,
Perhaps some hope, they cannot build.
